Have you ever had an authentic calzone? Well, ladies and gentlemen…I present to you…Battista’s Calzone Company!!!
Anyways. It’s quite a shame that they’re only open from 11 to 3:30 . As well, located on 11745 84 St NW, in a kind of an out-of-the-way location.
All of their calzones are $8.50 each.
This is the Chicken Pesto one. I like how it the dough was soft on the inside with a slight crunch on the outside. This is opposite to the popular deep fried crusty-ish style that done is at most pizzerias. However, this would be better if real chicken was used instead of chicken lunchmeat.
The Classico one. This is my personal favourite. I like the mixture of meat, cheese and veggies.
The Nutella calzone. It oozed Nutella and was filled with strawberries. It was good, but I wouldn’t quite say spectacular.
So overall, do I “rebeccamend” this? Yes.
The dough is fresh, the calzones are not greasy at all and the marinara sauce is great for dipping. All in all, top notch quality. It’s definitely worth checking out.
